Public Input Sought by NIST for Mobile App Security

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) released a draft guide to assist organizations to manage security susceptibilities and risks associated with the use of mobile apps. The agency is seeking public comments on the draft of Technical Considerations for Vetting 3rd Party Mobile Applications by September 18, 2014.

The draft provides information to screen mobile apps including common testing requirement, testing tools, and techniques. Additionally, the draft provides a summary of software assurance issues, examples of security weakness, and reviews of app power consumption.
