Pilot Run of Thailand Smart Grid Project

The Faculty of Engineering at Chulalongkorn University is a beta-site for their Smart Grid project to better understand and demonstrate the use of electricity and energy in Thailand. The project was prompted by the uncertainty of energy supplies.

The development of a Smart Grid would promote competition between power producers and growth of businesses in the industry. In addition to testing a Smart Grid, the project includes testing charging stations for electric vehicles and a virtual power plant.  The project is running in parallel with other energy-related programs being organized by the Energy Policy and Planning Office (EPPO) under the Energy Ministry.
