A team of students from the University of Canterbury are developing personal robots that could be used for home surveillance, personal security, and to improve the quality of life. The team’s development, a small camera drone, being called SelfieBot, could change the way “selfies” or personal photographs are taken.
The device is placed in the air like a floating camera and can hold its position without it being guided. It can also allow photos to be taken a distance longer than arm’s length, be hands-free, and can include more people. The drone is currently being tested to produce a functional prototype, and the team is looking to fund the project through Kickstarter.
