Overheated remote-controlled helicopters

Imagine Nation Books Ltd./Books Are Fun of Boulder, CO has voluntarily recalled about 46,000 of its “Fly Dragonfly” remote-controlled helicopters manufactured in China.

According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), the rechargeable battery inside the helicopters can overheat, igniting the helicopter and posting fire and burn hazards to consumers.

The company has received 49 reports of the helicopters overheating, including six reports of flames coming from the helicopters, and one report of minor property damage.  However, there have been no reports of injuries.

The recalled helicopters were sold at book and gift fairs held in schools, hospitals and office buildings nationwide from August 2009 through January 2010 for about $38.
