Omni Wheel Provides Bikes Electrified Boost

Photo: Evelo

An ordinary non-electric bicycle can now be converted into an electric bike. This all-in-one wheel design houses a 350 W motor, high-grade batteries, and power assist controller.

Using a smart pedal sensor, the Omni Wheel, released by the Boston-based electric bicycle company, Evelo, sends data to the handlebar mounted display, eliminating the need for a smart phone and app installations. The wheel provides multiple levels of pedal-assist enabling speeds of up to 25 miles an hour, and can travel up to 40 miles on a single charge.
