Nissan Recalls Pathfinder for Brake Light Repair

Nissan is recalling certain model year 2013-2014 Pathfinder vehicles because of a problem with the exterior lighting. A total of 79,853 cars are included in the recall.

The vehicle’s stop lamp switch may have been installed out of specification, which can cause the stop lamp switch to make intermittent contact and repeatedly cycle. Over time, this may result in the stop lamp relay sticking in the ON position. This can cause the brake lights to remain illuminated even when the service brakes are not being applied, which could confuse other drivers. The condition could also inhibit the brake-shift interlock, which would allow the driver to shift the vehicle out of the “Park” position without pressing the brake pedal, creating a rollaway risk.

Nissan will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the brake light switch and, as necessary, replace the relay, free of charge.
