New World Record Set for Wireless Data Transmission

Researchers at Germany’s Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) have succeeded in reaching 100 gigabits per second while transmitting data over 20 meters at a frequency of 237.5 GHz. The group’s previous effort reached 40 Gbps over 1 kilometer.

The accomplishments in this research are addressing the issue of expanding cable-based telecommunication networks by using broadband data transmission via radio relay links to make the process more feasible.
