New Invention from HP Calculates 640TBs of Data in One Billionth of a Second

A new invention by HP could change the future of computing. Named The Machine, this innovation combines server, workstation, PC, device, and phone capabilities and is capable of processing large amounts of data in a short amount of time.

The design of The Machine uses specialized core clusters that are connected with silicon photonics to increase the system speed and reduce energy requirements. It also features resistors that are capable of storing information when power is lost. Due to the design features, The Machine is six times more powerful, and requires eighty times less energy than today’s servers.

Read more about how this technology not only can be used in supercomputers, but also to smaller devices like smartphones and laptops.
