New Electric Bus Chargers Being Tested In Sweden

New Electric Bus Chargers Being Tested In Sweden | In Compliance Magazine

A new automotive charging system for electric or hybrid buses is being tested in Umea, Sweden.  The system provides a charge of 650kW, a large increase over current systems on the market.

The charging system drops down from a fixed position above the bus and attaches to a large copper bar installed on the top of the bus. When the system is used in conjunction with lithium-titanate batteries, the buses only need to be charged for three to four minutes. The systems are planned to be installed at stations where buses are stopped for a few minutes and can quickly be connected to the system to fast charge the batteries.
