A research team from the V-CHARGE Consortium has developed a fully automated system that allows drivers to leave self-driving electric cars, and the car will go by park itself. The system would be available at airports and railway stations.
Drivers would leave their electric car in the parking area and use a smartphone app to start the parking process. The vehicle would then connect to the e-car park’s server to be assigned to a designated parking spot. The app also allows the electric car to be programmed to visit a charging station. When the driver returns to the airport or station, the same app would be used to send for their car.
