Neon sign power supply transformers recalled

HEICO lighting, a division of EMC Technologies, Montreal, Quebec (Canada), is recalling about 3900 of its power supply transformers manufactured in Canada and used with the company’s commercial neon signs.

HEICO reports that transformers do not meet the UL product safety standard applicable to this product, and that they pose a fire risk. The company has not received any reports of incidents or injuries related to the recalled transformers, but has initiated the recall to prevent possible incidents in the future.

The recalled transformers were sold by HEICO lighting to ten electrical distributors nationwide from December 2011 through May 2012 for between $60 and $150.
