NASA has announced they are seeking proposals to replace battery technology with advanced energy storage solutions. There are two types of proposals being requested: high specific energy system level concepts and very high specific energy devices.
The high specific energy system level concepts category focuses on cell chemistry and system level battery technologies, including packaging and cell integration. The very high specific energy devices category is concentrated on technology that pushes the limits of lithium batteries but maintains the life cycle and demands of energy storage systems used in space applications.
