Moving Toward ‘Quantified Self’ Life-Logging with the Smartwatch

With the release of Samsung’s Galaxy Gear Smartwatch, venture capitalist Brad Feld believes that this is the start of human instrumentation and is excited about how intimate these devices could be.  Devices like the Smartwatch become almost like another organ – able to take your pulse, measure your temperature and record the quality of your sleep.

‘Quantified Self’ is a social movement of people who identify themselves as being interested in quantifying themselves — in tracking data about their lives. Millions of Americans are already tracking themselves with an app or a device and Forrester Research found that roughly one third of online adults are interested in using a device to track things like sleep.
