More Pirate Radio Enforcement Efforts

The Enforcement Bureau of the U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC) is continuing its efforts to stem the incidence of pirate radio operations in the U.S. with another round of proposed fines of nearly $400,000.

The latest actions involve pirate radio operations in the Miami, FL area. In the first Notice of Apparent Liability for Forfeiture (NAL), the Commission has proposed a fine of $325,322 against the operator of “Unique FM,” an unlicensed radio station operating on the 91.7 MHz frequency in Miami. The NAL cites the operator for four separate instances of illegal broadcasting operations in March and November 2024 and in January 2025.

In the second instance, the FCC has issued an NAL against the operator of “Da Pound FM,” an unlicensed radio station operating in Miami Gardens, FL, on the 89.1 MHz frequency. The NAL, in this case, cites three separate instances of illegal broadcasting operations, two in March 2024 and one in January 2025.
