Montreal-Based Company Charged with Selling Counterfeit Electrical Products | In Compliance Magazine

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police filed fraud charges against Montreal-Import and the company’s owner after receiving a complaint from Underwriters Laboratories that the company was selling counterfeit electrical products. UL contacted the RCMP because of potential public safety hazards when electrical products are sold without proper certifications. More than 13,000 counterfeit electrical products were seized after a search of the Montreal-Import facility. The electrical products seized were being sold with counterfeit UL certification logos.
