MIT to Build New Nanoscale Research Facilities

MIT plans to invest $350 million towards state-of-the-art facilities to support nanoscale research that will be used by approximately 2000 researchers.

The building will be located where Building 12 currently stands and construction will start in the summer of the 2012 and is scheduled to be completed by 2018. MIT.nano will feature two connected floors of cleanrooms and will feature fabrication spaces and materials growth laboratories. In addition, there will be a floor dedicated to advanced imaging technologies that will feature low vibration and minimal EM interference  included in the building plans.
