The recalled AC power cords were sold with Microsoft Surface Pro, Surface Pro 2 and Surface Pro 3 computers before March 15, 2015. They were sold at Microsoft stores, Best Buy, Costco and other stores nationwide, and online at www.microsoft.com, for between $800 and $2,000 for the Surface Pro computer or $64 to $80 when the power supply unit was sold separately. The recalled power cords do not have a 1/8-inch sleeve on the cord on the end that connects to the power supply, while Microsoft’s newer power cords have already been redesigned to include a protective sleeve.
Consumers should unplug and stop using the recalled power cords and contact Microsoft for a free replacement AC power cord.
