Gene Felder is the Corporate Product Manager at Desco Industries. Before joining Desco, he was general manager of BW/IP International SR Engineering. Mr. Felder graduated from California State University with a B.A. in business administration and earned an M.B.A. from the UCLA Anderson School of Management. He is a member of the ESD Association serving on a number of Standards Committee working groups.
EMC Technical Support Engineer and NARTE Certified EMC Engineer, Gary Fenical has been with Laird Technologies for 29 years. He is a specialist in RF shielded enclosures and has been responsible for the design and/or measurement and quality control of hundreds of large-scale shielded enclosures, as well as a number of shielded equipment cabinets and housings. He was instrumental in the design and construction of Laird Technologies’ state-of-the-art World Compliance Centers and has authored many articles on EMC requirements for medical devices, mutual recognition agreements and guidelines to meet the essential requirements if the EU EMC Directive. He has also authored several seminars, presented worldwide, on the EU EMC Directive, international compliance, and designing for EMC and EMC requirements for medical devices. He holds the patent for the invention of heat-treated berylliumcopper knitted wire mesh gasket. Other patents are pending.
Cherie Forbes is an electrical engineer focused on helping manufacturers gain safety certifications such as UL and CSA. She has worked in the product safety industry for fifteen years and is currently an independent consultant at CertAssist Consulting Inc. She was formerly Manager of Engineering for Lamothe Approvals and has published numerous articles and conducted seminars to aid manufacturers with product design. She is currently a member of IEEE Product Safety Engineering Society (PSES), Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME), Professional Engineers of Ontario (PEO) and Silicon Halton.
Daryl Gerke, PE, has been a successful consulting engineer for 41 years. In 1978, Daryl and his business partner (the late Bill Kimmel, PE) co-founded Kimmel Gerke Associates as a part-time electrical engineering consulting firm. In 1987, they went full time specializing in EMI/EMC design, troubleshooting, and training.
Since 1987, they solved or prevented hundreds of EMI/EMC problems across a range of industries. They wrote three books and over 200 articles on EMI/EMC, and they trained over 12,000 students on EMI/EMC design and troubleshooting through their seminars.
Now easing into retirement, Daryl no longer consults but remains involved in EMC training.
Daryl has a BSEE (Electrical Engineering) degree from the University of Nebraska, is a Registered Professional Engineer (PE), and a NARTE Certified EMC Engineer (NCEE).
Dennis Handlon is currently a product manager at Agilent Technologies, Inc. signal analysis division. He specializes in electromagnetic interference measurements using the new EMI measurement receiver. Dennis has been involved with the EMC community as an IEEE member since 1990. Prior to EMC he was the product manager for millimeter frequency measurement products. Dennis has a BSEE from San Jose State University.
Michael Hopkins has over 30 years experience with EMC and ESD as an independent consultant, an employee of Thermo Fisher Scientific working with the KeyTek product lines, EM Test USA. and Amber Precision Instruments. He has worked closely with manufacturers and laboratories world-wide providing training, applications help, and assistance with the development of interpretation of test standards. He is the author of several papers and articles on ESD and other system level EMC phenomena; and has participated in numerous national and international seminars as author, speaker, and panelist. Michael has served with several committees developing standards for industry including IEC as a former working group convenor, the ESD Association, IEEE, SAE and is a member of the U.S. Technical Advisory Group for EMC for the development and maintenance of basic EMC standards.
Walter Jager is principal consultant at ECD Compliance where he has worked extensively with product manufacturers and suppliers on regulatory requirements and implementation of environmental compliance such as RoHS, REACH, energy efficiency and ecodesign. He also has significant experience with product verification to environmental product declarations (EPDs) such as EPEATTM. Mr. Jager has contributed to the development of International Environmental Standards and guidance documents and he administers the IEC 62474 database. He holds Master’s Degrees in Electrical Engineering and in Business Administration and has held positions in product development, quality and reliability engineering, supply chain management, and environmental compliance.
Alma Jaze is an EMC Engineer at IBM in Poughkeepsie, NY. She graduated with a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering in 2006. While having already interned with IBM for three years (in Thermo Development and Power Development), upon graduation she became part of the EMC team. She is currently responsible for all EMC input throughout all phases of product design and development for the High-End Servers Division. In the most recent years, she has been involved in research work that focuses in PCB design effects and has a great interest in computational electromagnetics.
