Henry W. Ott is President and Principal Consultant of Henry Ott Consultants, an EMC training and consulting organization. He has literally “written the book” on the subject of EMC and is considered by many to be the nation’s leading EMC educator. He is the author of the popular EMC book Noise Reduction Techniques in Electronic Systems (1976, 1988). The book has sold over 65,000 copies and has been translated into six other languages. In addition to knowing his subject, Mr. Ott has the rare ability to communicate that knowledge to others. Mr. Ott’s newly published (Aug. 2009) 872-page book, Electromagnetic Compatibility Engineering, is the most comprehensive book available on EMC. While still retaining the core information that made Noise Reduction Techniques an international success, this new book contains over 600 pages of new and revised material. Prior to starting his own consulting company, Mr. Ott was with AT&T Bell Laboratories, Whippany, NJ for 30 years, where he was a Distinguished Member of the Technical Staff and a consultant on EMC. Mr. Ott is a Life Fellow of the IEEE and has served the EMC Society in various capacities including: membership on the Board of Directors, Education Committee Chairman, Symposium Committee Chairman and Vice President of Conferences. He is also a member of the ESD Association and a NARTE certified ESD engineer. He is a past Distinguished Lecturer of the EMC Society, and lectures extensively on the subject of EMC.
Phil Mistretta is a Metrology Manager for Transcat Inc. in Rochester, NY. He has a background in EMC/EMI compliance testing, lean manufacturing engineering and over 25 years of experience in the field of Metrology. He is a member of IEEE and ASQ and is an ASQ-Certified Calibration Technician. He is a graduate of Central Texas College and pursuing a BS in Engineering Physics at the University of Buffalo New York on a part-time basis.
Michael Derby is a senior regulatory engineer and Director at ACB Europe Ltd., where he serves as a technical reviewer and certification body; as a TCB for the FCC, FCB for ISED Canada, EU Notified Body for the RED and EMCD, and RCB for Japan and Hong Kong.
Kathleen Muhonen is an ESD engineer at Qorvo in Greensboro, NC. She is involved in ESD on-chip protection for RF and Millimeter wave applications. She is also heavily involved in system level testing and helped standardize IED testing of RF components. Kathleen has served on multiple ESD Association device testing standards committees, and has chaired the TLP and HMM workgroups. She has also presented a number of papers at the EOS/ESD Annual Symposium over the last decade. Kathleen holds a BSEE degree from Michigan Technological University, an MSEE from Syracuse University, and Ph.D.EE from Penn State University.
Al Martin was a frequent contributor to In Compliance Magazine and the author or co-author of over 35 papers on EMC and telecommunications. He passed away in August 2021.
Jim Teune is a founding partner of E3 Compliance LLC which specializes in product development and EMC precompliance testing. He is an iNARTE certified EMC Engineer and Master EMC Design Engineer. Jim is an industrial partner of the EMC Center at GVSU.
Chris Burket has been with TDK since 1995 and is now a senior applications engineer supporting a vast array of passive components. He has been involved in product design, technical sales and marketing. Mr Burket has written and presented technical papers at numerous forums. Mr. Burket had been awarded three U.S. patents in optical/mechanical switches and in capacitors.
Mike Buzard is the Product Certification Program Manager at the American Association for Laboratory Accreditation (A2LA). In addition, Mr. Buzard is the staff contact for the EPA ENERGY STAR program, the Design Lights Consortium and DOE Lighting Facts programs for lighting testing laboratories, and Sustainable Energy field of testing.
