Malaysian University Test Lab Receives Accreditation

In December a testing laboratory at University Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia received MS ISO/IEC 17025 under the Laboratory Accreditation Scheme Malaysia, Department of Standards Malaysia. The Centre for Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMCcenter) is within the Research Centre for Applied Electromagnetics at the university. It started as a small Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) research center in 2002 and has since expanded to offer compliance and pre-compliance EMC testing services to electronics and electrical industries in the region.
Along with providing testing services, the center—which is headed by a professor and supported by instructors and technicians—researches the effects of electromagnetic waves on equipment and people. The facility’s capabilities range from simple conducted transient tests to a 3-meter semi-anechoic chamber, compliance to the latest CISPR 16-4-1 (SVSWR) to perform radiated emission up to 6GHz and radiated immunity up to 3GHz. The center plans to expand its test scope to include automotive components and defense in the near future.
