Luxe Trailers Recalled Because Microwave May Start On Its Own

Lakota Corporation is recalling certain model year 2014 Luxe trailers. The affected trailers are equipped with potentially defective Frigidaire KG series convection microwaves, model CFMV154CLS. The microwaves can start on their own and begin heating when unattended. If the microwaves self-start when something is left inside the microwave, a fire could occur.

A Lakota employee discovered the problem while attending a NHTSA seminar during which comments were made about Frigidaire microwaves being recalled by Jayco and other manufacturers. The employee suspected that the recalled microwaves were used in the Luxe trailers and called Frigidaire customer service to confirm model and serial numbers. According to a Part 573 Safety Recall Report, the Frigidaire representative said that the microwaves were not part of a recall. The employee reported:

This made no sense to me so I gave her one of the serials listed in the Jayco article about the recall and that one wasn’t under recall either. I knew their system must be faulty. I called Midwest Sales, the distributor from whom we received the microwaves. They offered to send us three new key pads at no charge.

Lakota will notify owners, and dealers will replace the membrane/keypad component, free of charge.
