Low Cost Medium Power/Broadband Amplifier Introduced by MITEQ

Low Cost Medium Power/Broadband Amplifier | In Compliance Magazine

MITEQ Inc. introduced a new addition, Model AWS-3F-00501800-50-23P, to its family of hermetic, single bias coaxial amplifiers. This amplifier has over 25 dB of gain from 0.5 to 18 GHz, in a housing that is only 1” long and 0.66” wide, not including the field replaceable SMA-connectors. Gain flatness is a maximum of ±1.5 dB, with typical performance of ±1 dB.

The AWS-3F-00501800-50-23P has a maximum noise figure of 5 dB. This amplifier operates over a baseplate temperature of -40 to +75°C, has a P1dB minimum of ±23 dBm, IP3 of typically ±31 dBm, and a current draw of maximum 450 mA from a single +12V DC supply. The aluminum base provides excellent thermal characteristics while the slim profile Kovar housing allows for hermetic sealing if required. The use of an EMI filtered DC input provides for improved EMI performance. DC input regulation and reverse polarity protection, with a single positive bias is required.  This model is also RoHS compliant.

Mastering High Voltage: The Importance of Accurate Test Equipment

This whitepaper underscores that precise calibration of high-voltage test gear — especially when measuring 1 kV–150 kV systems — is essential for safety, reliability, and regulatory compliance. It details measurement techniques (voltage dividers, step-down transformers, etc.), the impact of environmental and connection factors on accuracy, and why traceable calibration (e.g. to NIST / A2LA) is a must to ensure consistent, reliable results.
