Lantiq and Würth Elektronik eiSos announced the availability of a jointly developed demonstration kit to provide an easy and fast way for implementing Ethernet in a broad range of products. The Evaluation Kit paves the way to easily add Ethernet hardware to an application or device and provides all necessary information to understand the demands of an Ethernet hardware design.
In addition, an easy to use and ready 1 Gbps demonstration board is included. With the new kit, customers can smoothly expand existing applications like stoves, coffee machines, telephones, dishwashers, etc., with 1 Gigabit Ethernet connectivity. By implementing Ethernet, the manufacturers not only get Internet functionality, but additionally, an easy, standardized connection to plug service and maintenance devices.
The small demo board is the size of a credit card (54 mm x 92 mm) and is powered by USB. Customers can easily plug the board to PCs and instantly experience data rates up to 1 Gbps bi-directional. Using the XWAY™PHY11G in a very small VQFN-48 package (7mm x 7 mm) from Lantiq, energy can be saved due to IEEE’s energy efficient Ethernet standard.
The kit relies on the field proven Lantiq Gigabit Ethernet technology with best in class energy efficiency, highest integration and smallest form factor. The overall solution with the leading Ethernet and passive components from Würth Elektronik eiSos proves that Internet/Ethernet connectivity can be realized with less than $3 USD added to a bill of material in high quantities.
