JetForce Avalanche Airbag Packs Recalled Due to Risk of Injury

recallThe Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has announced a recall of Black Diamond, Pieps and POC Brand JetForce Avalanche Airbag Packs. System malfunctions can prevent the airbag from deploying, which increases the risk of injury or death in the event of an avalanche. There have been no reported incidents or injuries.

The airbag packs were sold at specialty outdoor retail stores nationwide and online at www.blackdiamondequipment.com from December 2014 to June 2015 for between $1,250 and $1,300. The recall includes all first generation JetForce Black Diamond, Pieps and POC model airbag packs, totaling about 1,000 units in the United States and 200 in Canada. The packs come in black, red, orange, black with yellow, and black with red. The JetForce Technology logo is on the left shoulder strap. Check the CPSC notice for a complete list of affected models and manufacture dates.

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled airbag packs and contact Black Diamond to return the product for a free firmware update that will resolve the problem.
