IQD Announces New Low Phase Noise and Low Power Clock Oscillator

IQD Frequency Products has introduced a new crystal clock oscillator offering two key features – low phase noise and low current consumption. The CFPS-115 is available at any frequency between 26 to 44 MHz and offers a standard 45/55% duty cycle HCMOS output.

A Dash of Maxwell’s: A Maxwell’s Equations Primer – Part Two

Maxwell’s Equations are eloquently simple yet excruciatingly complex. Their first statement by James Clerk Maxwell in 1864 heralded the beginning of the age of radio and, one could argue, the age of modern electronics.

At 40 MHz, the phase noise performance is -80dBc/Hz at 10 Hz offset and -145dBc/Hz at 1 kHz offset, which are about 5dBc better than similar design parts. This new model offers low power consumption of approximately 7mA, compared to a standard SMD oscillator where current power consumption is typically around 20mA at 32 MHz.

The CFPS-115 is versatile oscillator designed for computing, aviation, data logging and monitoring equipment applications or where low phase and low power are critical to the end product performance.
