Investigation Opened to Look Into Tesla Fires

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has opened an investigation to review two batteries fires in Tesla Motors Model S sedans. There have been three reports of fires in six weeks that have prompted concerns about safety of the electric cars.

Reported by the Los Angeles Times, Tesla Chief Executive stated the investigation was requested by the automaker to debunk any fears that the cars were more prone to fires than regular gas vehicles. In response to the fires, Tesla has changed their warranty which now covers damage due to fire.
