IEEE Selects 2014 President-Elect

Dr. Howard E. Michel has been selected as the 2014 IEEE President-elect and will begin his one-year term on January 1, 2014. Dr. Michel is an associate professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at UMass-Dartmouth and engineering consultant.

As an active IEEE member for over 35 years, Michel is planning to focus on four key initiatives during his term. He plans to provide tools and educational resources to help IEEE members accelerate career security, boost local and global membership, deliver high-quality user experience relating to IEEE publishing and conference business and increase recruitment and employer support for IEEE worldwide.

Dr. Michel will succeed current 2013 IEEE President J. Roberto B. de Marca of Pontifical Catholic University, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
