The IEEE DIY Project is Open

creativityThe Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) is now accepting entries to the IEEE DIY Project. This Do-It-Yourself project was created to help encourage and support future makers and tinkerers by allowing them to showcase new and innovative projects. More than 300 unique projects were entered in last year’s competition and the grand prize was awarded to Gaurav Gautam for his Wirelessly Operated Hand Glove Robot.

This year’s competition is open from now until December 7, 2015. Individuals 18 years or older are invited to share their projects with the community for a chance to win. Submission categories include: Green Tech, Accessibility, Intelligent Transportation, Public Safety, Entertainment, Education, Communication, and Other. Visitors to the site can also vote for their favorite submissions. The top five submissions will win Amazon gift cards, ranging from $50 up to $500 for the grand prize winner. So far, this year’s most popular projects include robot that detects toxic gases and an electricity generating smart shoe.

Visit the IEEE DIY Project online to submit your project and to check out what other tech enthusiasts have created.
