IEEE Acquires GlobalSpec from IHS

handshakeIEEE has acquired GlobalSpec, a source of news, data, and analytics for the global engineering and technical community, including the Engineering360 brand. The new for-profit subsidiary of IEEE will be called IEEE Global Spec, Inc., and will serve more than 8 million registered users. The audience includes industry-based engineers, technical professionals, manufacturers, distributors, and service providers involved in technical research, product design, and purchasing.

The multi-media destination will include editorial and technical content, as well as webinars, online forums, and a content marketing tools and products. Specifically, IEEE GlobalSpec will include the following segments: industry News & Analysis, Products & Suppliers, a Standards Directory, a Reference Library, and an online Engineering Community. The site features 95 million technical documents, 220 million indexed technical webpages, more than 200,000 suppliers, and millions of additional resources.
