The IEC announced the release of a technical specification that covers critical aspects of external chargers for notebook computers, connector and plug, and safety, interoperability, performance and environmental concerns.
This new technical specification will significantly reduce e-waste related to power supplies and allows consumers the ability to use one single external charger with a wide range of notebook computers. Additionally, the specification will allow for easier replacement of external chargers or recycled to use with another computer. The specification will be available in early 2014.
