IEC 62893-3:2017 Pre-Release Version Now Available for Charging Cables for Electric Vehicles

The International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) has released IEC 62893-3:2017 PRV. This report details “Charging cables for electric vehicles of rated voltages up to and including 0,6/1 kV – Part 3: Cables for AC charging according to modes 1, 2 and 3 of IEC 61851-1 of rated voltages up to and including 450/750 V” and is now available on the IEC webstore.

Description: “IEC 62893-3:2017 applies to cables for AC charging according to modes 1, 2 and 3 of IEC 61851-1. The cables are of rated voltages U0/U up to and including 450/750 V. Ordinary duty cables with rated voltage 300/500 V are only permitted for charging mode 1 of IEC 61851-1. Maximum conductor operating temperature for the cables in this document is 90 ºC.
