The International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) has released IEC 62561-3:2017 for “lightning protection system components (LPSC) – Part 3: Requirements for isolating spark gaps (ISG)” and is now available on the IEC webstore.

Description: “IEC 62561-3:2017 specifies the requirements and tests for isolating spark gaps (ISG) for lightning protection systems. ISGs can be used to indirectly bond a lightning protection system to other nearby metalwork where a direct bond is not permissible for functional reasons.
This second edition cancels and replaces the first edition, published in 2012. This edition constitutes a technical revision.
This edition includes the following significant technical changes with respect to the previous edition.

Precision Control in Semiconductor Wafer Lapping

Vitrek’s application note details how MTI’s Accumeasure™ uses non-contact, push-pull capacitance probes for real-time, sub-micron thickness monitoring during semiconductor wafer lapping—even in electrically noisy, ungrounded environments. Automated alerts prevent over-thinning, improving yield consistency, precision, and process safety.
