ICS-CERT Investigating Cybersecurity Flaws in Medical Devices

Medical Devices | In Compliance Magazine

Two dozen incidents are being investigated by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Industrial Control Systems Cyber Emergency Response Team (ICS-CERT) after concerns of cybersecurity flaws in medical devices and hospital equipment. The products under investigation include an infusion pump and implantable heart devices that could be compromised by hackers.

The agency is concerned that hackers may try to gain access of medical devices remotely and create issues with the devices functioning properly. ICS-CERT is working with medical device manufacturers to find and repair software coding to prevent attacks to hospital equipment or expose confidential information.
