Hotel Chain Introduces Robotic Butler

A robotic butler, also known as Botlr, debuted at the Aloft Hotel in Cupertino, CA earlier this week. The robot, designed specifically for the hospitality industry, serves as cyber associate to deliver items requested by guests.

The Botlr travels through the hotel at the same speed as a person walking and can move between floors using the hotel elevator.  It weighs less than 100 pounds, is three feet tall and has a two cubic foot space for items. After a guest requests an item from the front desk, the Botlr will travel to the guest room and phone the room to inform the guest of its arrival. The robot will watch for the door to open using its onboard camera and once opened, the lid to the robot will be unlocked, and instructions will be provided to the guest on how to remove the item and close the lid. After the delivery, the Boltr will travel back to the front desk.
