Homelite Electric Blower Vacuums Recalled Due to Fire and Burn Hazards

Homelite Blower VacuumHomelite has issued a recall for 864,000 of their electric blower vacuums in the U.S. and Canada. The leaf blowers can overheat, spark, and catch on fire, posing fire and burn hazards. They were sold at Home Depot and Direct Tools Factory Outlets nationwide, and online at www.homedepot.com January 2010 through March 2015 for about $40. There have been 1,369 reports of blower vacuums sparking, arcing, smoking or burning, and one report of minor injury.

The recall includes red and black Homelite 12 amp electric blower vacuums with model numbers UT42120, UT42120A and UT42121. (Note: Models UT42120 and UT42120A of this product were previously recalled in February 2013.)

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled leaf blowers and return them to any Home Depot or Direct Tools Factory Outlet store for a full refund.
