Lithuania is reported to be one of the 10 least happy countries in the world, according to 2012 Gallup report. But the mayor and people in Vilnius, that nation’s capital, are taking the news in stride.
According to CNN, Vilnius has launched a “Smile to Vilnius” campaign to increase the level of happiness in the city. The campaign uses the recently launched “Happy Barometer” (available at www.happybarometer.com) that allows citizens to record their happiness level on a scale of zero to 10. Vilnius has even erected an outdoor digital display to broadcast happiness levels in real time.
More than 5000 entries were reportedly collected during the first week of the “Smile to Vilnius” campaign, with an average happiness score of 6.1.
