GTRI Researches Evaluate Electronic Flight Bags for Air National Guard Pilots

Researchers at the Georgia Tech Research Institute (GTRI) are evaluating the use of electronic flight bags for Air National Guard pilots. The use of electronic flight bags could improve safety, operational effectiveness and efficiency for crew members.

A-10 and F-16 pilots have completed flight simulator missions to test and evaluate two commercially-available tablets preloaded with a GTRI-developed app called “QuickTOs” and commercially available flight planning apps.  Additional project work will include more flight simulations and then electromagnetic interference tests and real flight testing of the devices.

Read more about the evaluation of electronic flight bags and how they could become part of a pilot’s kneeboard in the future.
