GCT expands 3D model offer for Board to Board Connectors

GCT offeringGlobal Connector Technology (GCT), supplier of standard and custom interconnect products, has expanded its 3D model offering for board to board connectors. Developed following close liaison with customers, where feedback indicated a demand for instantly viewable and downloadable models, GCT designed a system to post models online for IGES, STEP and Parasolid files. The move allows customers to download a representative selection of models and request the exact GCT part numbers as necessary.

The board to board range from GCT has many possible part number iterations. For example, take a thru-hole stacking header – there are selectable options on mating pin, solder pin and stacking dimension pin lengths. In addition, there is often a choice of multiple insulators. In short, the combination of options means many thousands of part number iterations; as such it’s impractical to have all model variations online.

Instead, GCT posts a sample of models online, which allows customers to view and get a feel for the dimensional characteristics of parts. For the exact requirement, however, the company offers a request system, where models are delivered in a maximum of two working days. Once requests are validated by the GCT sales teams, the company’s technical product group produce the models.

EMC & eMobility

For a company embarking on EMC testing for either component or vehicle-level testing of their EV products, it is necessary first to have a good understanding of the EMC regulatory situation.
