Forest River RVs Recalled for Electrocution Risk

RV interiorForest River Inc. is recalling certain recreational vehicles because incorrect electrical wiring can cause an electrical arc that could potentially electrocute the user. The recall includes certain model year 2016 Surveyor recreational vehicles, model SVF275BHSS, which were manufactured in November 2015.

The General Circuit Receptacles are incorrectly wired with two incoming hot wires and should only have one hot wire, a neutral wire, and a ground wire.

This defect was identified during a quality control check. With two incoming hot wires, the receptacle may receive “over-current,” which could cause a hazardous electrical arc. Forest River will notify owners, and dealers will repair any wiring, breakers, and other items, as necessary, free of charge. The replacement General Circuit is wired with a single hot, neutral, and ground wire to the receptacle that can be identified through the main converter box.
