Ford owners should double check to see if their vehicles are one of millions being recalled for various electrical defects. The auto company recently announced two major recalls, on top of the nearly 1.5 million Ford vehicles that are already included in the massive Takata air bag recall.

Nearly 20,000 of  Ford’s 2015 Mustangs are recalled because of a defect with the gas tank’s heat shield that could damage the parking brake cable and pose a fire risk. Additionally, 423,000 Ford cars and SUVs are recalled because of problems with power-assisted steering. No injuries have been reported, but there have been at least four related crashes and the NHTSA has received 508 complaints about steering defects in Ford vehicles. The issue is caused by an intermittent electrical connection that can stop the power steering and force the steering into manual mode, making the vehicle harder to control.

The power steering recall covers some of these models: Ford Flex, Taurus, Lincoln MKS and MKT, Ford Fusion, Lincoln MKZ, and Mercury Milans. The list could grow, since there is already a class-action lawsuit involving additional models, such as the Focus.
