First Hydrogen-Powered Car Will Be Available in 2015

Toyota’s hydrogen-powered car will be the first hydrogen fuel cell vehicle to go on sale in the United States, but limited to only California. The auto manufacturer promises to be able to travel 300 miles on one fill up and take less than five minutes to refill.

The prototype vehicle was revealed at the CES 2014 show. It looks similar to a Toyota Corolla, is emissions-free and Toyota claims it will do zero to 60 in approximately 10 seconds. Toyota has partnered with UC Irvine’s Advanced Power and Energy Program to determine the location of additional stations based on current ownership of EVs and hybrids, population density and traffic patterns. 68 new stations have been identified as being required for the initial launch of the hydrogen-powered car.
