Fire Hazard Prompts Recall for GE Brand Dehumidifiers

Approximately 15,500 30-pint portable GE brand dehumidifiers are being recalled due to a fire hazard from a component in the compressor that could short circuit.  The products were sold exclusively at Walmart stores.

The dehumidifiers were sold from March 2010 to December 2010 and retail for $170. They feature a front-loading water bucket and are 19 inches tall, 13 inches wide and 9 inches deep. Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled dehumidifiers and contact Midea for a free repair.

Check to see if your portable GE brand dehumidifier is included in the recall.
