FCC Publishes, Then Retracts, White Papers on Cybersecurity Risk Reduction, Digital Infrastructure

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) issued and then retracted Commission-authored white papers on cybersecurity risk reduction and the digital infrastructure.

The papers, which were originally published on January 18th, were retracted by the FCC on February 3rd. In its Notice regarding the retraction, the FCC did not provide an explanation for its actions. However, FCC Commissioner Mignon Clyburn released a separate statement, calling on FCC Chairman Ajit Pai to provide an explanation for the retraction as well as an increased commitment to transparency within the FCC.

In a separate statement, Chairman Pai noted that, “These last minute actions, which did not enjoy the support of the majority of the Commissioners at the time they were taken, should not bind us going forward.”
