FCC Further Extends Waiver on RF Equipment Information Collection Requirements

The Office of Engineering and Technology (OET) of the U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has issued another extension on the implementation of specific documentation filing requirements applicable to importers of radiofrequency (RF) equipment.

Issued in late September, the FCC Order continues its suspension of the required filing of its FCC Form 740 declaration of imported devices until December 31st of this year. The suspension was initially announced in early 2016 due to technical challenges that prevented U.S. Customs and Border Protection from receiving the form information electronically, and has already been extended several times.

In a Report and Order issued in July, the Commission moved to officially discontinue the use of Form 740. However, the effective date of this change was beyond the current September 30th expiration date, hence, the need to extend the waiver until the end of the year.
