The ARRL reports that the U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has apparently resolved a computer programming issue that had prevented the timely processing of hundreds of applications for commercial radio licenses.
As we recently reported, the ARRL first detected a problem with the Commission’s electronic batch filing system in late June. That system facilitates the automated uploading of licensing applications and test results. The problem affected only files being uploaded by the ARRL, which has used an automated file upload program “for years” without problem, and led to a backlog of more than 1200 applications and 300 exam sessions.
The Commission reportedly made resolving the upload issue a top priority. And, according to a July 14th posting on its website, the ARRL’s IT Department and the ARRL Volunteer Examiner Coordinator (VEC) has confirmed that the batch processing problem has been fixed and that the backlog of applications and exam sessions has finally been cleared through the system.
