FCC Enforcement Bureau Announces More Actions Against Pirate Broadcasters

Continuing its aggressive enforcement efforts against unlicensed radio operations, the Enforcement Bureau of the U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has issued additional notices to individuals linked to illegal pirate broadcasting.

Officials at Region One of the FCC’s Enforcement Bureau issued three separate notices to operators in New York City and Bethesda, MD. As is standard practice, each of the recipients was notified of their potential liability for financial penalties of up to $2 million if they fail to immediately cease their illegal broadcasting operations. The recipients were further instructed to confirm with the FCC that such illegal operations have been discontinued.

Since early June, Region One of the Enforcement Bureau has issued 11 separate notices targeting individuals connected with illegal radio broadcasting activities.
