Continuing efforts originally begun in November 2010, the Commission of the European Union (EU) has issued new regulations regarding the requirements for the energy labeling of vacuum cleaners.
The revised energy labeling requirements were published in July 2013 in the Official Journal of the European Union, and supplement the labeling requirements previously published in Directive 2010/30/EC regarding vacuum cleaners.
Energy labeling requirements for a variety of home appliances and electronic devices have been promulgated by the Commission in an effort to increase consumer knowledge about the actual energy consumption of comparable household appliances, thereby creating incentives for manufacturers to improve the energy efficiency of their respective products. In recent years, the Commission has issued revised energy labeling requirements for refrigerators, dishwashers, washing machines, televisions and air conditioners.
