ETSI Releases OpenOP v1 to Support Telco Cloud Federation and 6G Experimentation

Sophia Antipolis, France – ETSI has released OpenOP Version 1, the first open‑source Operator Platform designed to enable telco cloud network federation, capability exposure, and experimentation with 5G‑Advanced and future 6G technologies.

Developed by ETSI’s Software Development Group OpenOP, the platform provides a standards‑based framework allowing telecom network capabilities to be exposed to developers through CAMARA APIs, supporting application deployment across distributed edge cloud environments.

OpenOP Release 1 includes components for network exposure, application lifecycle management, edge orchestration, cross‑operator federation, developer onboarding, and AI‑based intent interaction using large language models. The release has been validated through end‑to‑end integration scenarios, including integration with an open‑source 3GPP Network Exposure Function.
