Electrical Shock Hazard Prompts Recall of Fixed-Base Production Routers

Porter-Cable has issued a recall of more than 100,000 fixed-based production routers due to the possibility the router base handles are not properly insulated. This defect poses an electrical shock hazard.

The recall affects four different 3 1/4 horsepower, electric, fixed-base production router models (models 7518, 7519, 7519EC, and 22-7519-60) and one production router base model (model 75631) that were manufactured from 1990 until April 2014. The routers are 11 inches tall and 7 inches wide, and are gray with two side handles, a top adjuster ring and a clamp screw on the rear of the router. Consumers with recalled routers and router bases should immediately stop using the tool, and contact the company for a free replacement router base.

Check to see if your router is included in the recall.
