Electric Leaf Blowers Recalled Due to Laceration Hazard

Two different models of electric leaf blowers are being recalled by MTD because the blower’s impeller can break while in use and strike the operator.  The recalls include 134,000 Troy-Bilt model TB180B blowers and 24,000 Remington model RM180B.

The Troy-Bilt electric leaf blowers are 7.5 amps, red in color and manufactured between April 11, 2011 to June 15, 2012. The Remington model is also 7.5 amps but is black in color. The recalled units were built between May 13, 2011 and May 16, 2012. The company has received 18 incident reports between the two recalled models. Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled models until the blowers have been replaced.
